Researcher of the Year 2017

The Irish Research Council will this year award its first Researcher of the Year Awards to coincide with celebrations marking 15 years of the Council (including its forebears) funding excellent research across all disciplines. The awards will recognise and commend Council-funded researchers who have made a highly significant and valuable contribution to research in Ireland over their career to-date, whether within or outside academia. The guidelines for the Researcher of the Year Awards are available here.

Nominations are invited under three categories:

  1. Researcher of the Year – currently based in academia
  2. Researcher of the Year – currently based outside academia
  3. Early-Career Researcher of the Year


The nomination form is available here and should be completed and submitted by the research-performing institution. Individual nominees must complete the relevant application form for their category. These forms can be downloaded here and should be sent to the designated research officer within the research-performing institution to be uploaded with their submission.

Queries not addressed in the guidelines will be answered using a frequently asked questions (FAQ) system. Research offices may send any queries they are unable to clarify to FAQs will be posted weekly here.
