The Vibe in the Hive Wins at BTYSE

The Irish Research Council has announced the winner of its 2014 BT Young Scientist Exhibition Special Award. Applauded for their interdisciplinary research, combining Biology and Ecology, Daragh Exton and Matt Lucey from Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh amazed with their project “The Vibe of the Hive”.
This marked the 50th year of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, which saw 1,165 students from 32 counties covering 550 projects from 210 schools nationwide compete for the coveted title ‘Winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2014.’ The big award went to fifth-year student Paul Clarke, aged 17, from St Paul’s College, Raheny in Dublin, for his project entitled, “Contributions to cyclic graph theory”.
