Irish Research Council awardees and alumni participating in RTÉ’s Reflecting The Rising
Posted: 24 March, 2016
This Easter Monday, RTÉ will present the biggest public history event that has ever been staged in this country. RTÉ Reflecting the Rising will offer hundreds of talks as well as debates, music, theatre, films, walking tours and multi-media displays that explore the events of Easter Week and its aftermath as well as life at the time and the ensuing one hundred years of our cultural tapestry.
With more than 300 talks and debates to choose from, historians, leading commentators and relatives of those involved in the Rising will examine what it was like to be alive on Easter Monday, 1916.
Hear the songs of the time performed around the city by leading musicians. See the plays and films that Dubliners watched, and walk back into history with special guided walking tours visiting some of the main sites of the Rising.
The many locations involved in the event include St Stephen’s Green, the Gaiety Theatre, the Mansion House, Royal College of Surgeons, the National Library of Ireland, Trinity College, City Hall, Liberty Hall, the Abbey Theatre, the Four Courts, the Smithfield area and the National Museum at Collins Barracks.
A large number of current and former Irish Research Council award holders will be participating in the event on Easter Monday. Please see the PDF below for further information.
