Ireland in the Metropolitan Century
Niamh Moore Cherry, UCD, Ireland in the Metropolitan Century, Strand 1A (finished award: COALESCE/2019/25)
The team set up an online presence via a social media twitter handle @irelandmetro and a webpage.
The website hosts this grant, along with other projects initiated by or connected to the PI. In essence, this website is a synthesis of the PI’s long-standing work on Irish planning and governance. Having Ireland in the Metropolitan Century sit alongside the PI’s other projects, as well as two of the PDR’s IRC funded projects, contributes to the impact that all of these projects – many funded by the IRC – can collectively have in the public, academic and policy realm. The list of projects hosted on the website includes:
- Ireland in the Metropolitan Century (IRC COALESCE);
- Housing in the Tech City: Challenges for housing provision and addressing homelessness (IRC New Foundations, PDR is PI on this project, PI is UCD mentor);
- Reconfiguring intra-regional dynamics and inter-metropolitan relationships: Addressing the challenge of traditional urban and regional governance and perceptions of ‘left behindness’ in Ireland (IRC Enterprise Partnership Scheme, PDR is PI on this project, PI is UCD Mentor, and the SRA are the Enterprise Partner);
- Mapping Green Dublin (EPA);
- Urban Grit (IRC New Foundations).
